Project Overview
National Maintenance Services was appointed to transform a previously underutilised first-floor area within a children’s nursery, creating high-quality additional accommodation that would enable the nursery to increase capacity and make better use of its existing premises.
The project comprised a comprehensive multi-trade refurbishment of the first-floor space. Works included the installation of new flooring throughout, full preparation and redecoration of internal areas, the creation of new children’s bathroom facilities, and the installation of a new kitchenette.
The children’s washroom was fitted with appropriately positioned sanitaryware, new cubicles, and durable, easy-to-maintain finishes suited to a busy nursery setting. The main nursery rooms were also fully refreshed with new flooring and decoration, including a feature wall designed to create a warmer, more welcoming environment for children and staff.
A practical new kitchenette was installed to support the day-to-day operation of the expanded nursery area. This included fitted units, worktops, a sink, and splashbacks, providing a functional and hygienic space for staff use.
Working within an operational children’s nursery required careful planning around safeguarding, health and safety, site access, and the need to minimise disruption. National Maintenance Services coordinated each trade and phase of the refurbishment to ensure the project was delivered efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
The completed refurbishment has brought a previously unused part of the building back into productive use, creating bright, practical, and welcoming nursery accommodation. The additional first-floor space gives the nursery greater capacity while maintaining an environment designed around the needs of children and staff.
